BACKGROUND OF FMBA
MSMEs: The Backbone of Malaysia’s Economy
In 2020, Malaysia had 1,226,494 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), making up 97.4% of total business establishments (SME Corp Malaysia, 2020).
By 2022, MSMEs contributed 38.4% to the GDP and provided 48.2% of national employment (Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin, Business Today, 27 July 2023).
