Kuala Lumpur, 26th February โ€“ The Federation of Malaysian Business Associations (FMBA) had a productive courtesy meeting with YB Datuk Seri Haji Dr Dzulkefly bin Ahmad, Minister of Health, at his ministry office earlier today.

FMBA was represented by Advisor Tan Sri Dr Palan, Chairman Dato Seri Abdul Malik Abdullah, Vice Chairman Dato Tony Khor, Secretary General Mr Munaver Ahmad, and Council Members En Ahmad Fadhlullah and Mr Keith Thong.

During the discussion, FMBA presented key industry concerns and proposed actionable solutions aimed at fostering a sustainable and inclusive economic environment.

Key Issues Presented by FMBA:

1. FOMEMA Medical Check-ups for Foreign Workers:

  • Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as a screening criterion.

  • The fee hike and compulsory annual screening requirement.

2. Regulation of Hospital Services and Charges

3. Expediting GP Clinic Ownership Transfers and New Registrations

4. Early Alerts for SMEs on Potential Outbreaks

5. Proposal for a National Physiotherapy Registry

6. National Campaign: War on Sugar

7. Addressing the Stigma Around Mental Health

FMBA also supports the need of the Optometry Bill to be tabled to the Parliament to enhance the quality of eye care in the primary care. FMBA appreciates the Ministry’sopenness to our recommendations and remains committed to collaborating with the government to address challenges and strengthening Malaysiaโ€™s economiclandscape.
